Making your own dressings is easy, saves money, and controls ingredients. Curry is a generic term used in Western cuisines, while curry dishes throughout Asia are made from different spices and herbs.

makes 1 cup (240 ml)
3/4 cup (180 ml) plain yogurt, Greek yogurt, or dairy-free almond yogurt
1/4 cup (60 ml) buttermilk
1 tsp. (5 ml) each: lemon juice and curry powder*
2 tsp. (10 ml) honey
1 Tbs. (15 ml) apple cider vinegar
pinch of black pepper

1. Whisk the yogurt and buttermilk.
2. Add the rest of the ingredients and mix well.
3. For a thicker dressing for dips, refrigerate overnight

* Experiment with blends and combiantions of:
  • curry leaves
  • tamarind
  • coriander
  • ginger
  • garlic
  • chili
  • pepper seeds
  • mustard seeds
  • cinnamon
  • cloves
  • cardamom
  • cumin
  • fennel
  • anise seeds
  • fenugreek seeds
  • nutmeg
  • coconut
  • turmeric root or power
  • rosewater
