It's just a jar of organic tomato sauce, but it can be much more! Here are some ideas. Use in any pasta dish.

...Lemon & Capers
2 Tbs. (30 ml) capers
1/4 cup (60 ml) chopped pitted olives (try different kinds or all the same)
crushed red pepper flakes to taste
grated organic lemon zest
chopped garlic to taste

...Hearty Vegetables
1/4 cup (60 ml) chopped roasted organic red peppers or mix with yellow peppers
1/4 cup (60 ml) chopped artichoke hearts
sauté some spinach and/or zucchini
splash of balsamic vinegar

Use one or more of the following to the tomato sauce:
  • 1/4 cup (60 ml) prepared pesto
  • 1/2 cup (120 ml) drained, rinsed organic white beans
  • 1/2 cup (120 ml) fresh mozzarella cubes or dairy free cheese
  • 1/4 lb (115 g) sautéed mushrooms

...Herbs (plant) & Spices (dried seed)
Add to any of the above recipes....
1-2 tsp. (5-10 ml) or more
  • parsley
  • basil
  • tarragon
  • mint
  • chives
  • savory
  • black pepper
  • thyme
  • lemon thyme
  • marjoram
  • "Italian spice"
  • rosemary
  • sage
  • cilantro
...or on their own: chop up one or more aromatic herbs with a bit of melted butter, toss in with the pasta for a light dish.
