This Hindi dish can be as spicy as you like. Just add more herbs to the recipe.
हर्बल सेम (Hindi)
/harbala sēma/
Serve 3
A. Can be served with brown rice with tomatoes and yogurt.
1. Start cooking the rice.
B. for the beans:
1 cup (240 ml) organic beans
1/2 cup (125 ml) onion
1 tsp. (5 ml) each: oil and garlic
1/4 tsp. (1 ml) each: ginger, turmeric, cumin, coriander, cinnamon
1 bay leaf
pinch cayenne pepper
1 cup (240 ml) water or organic vegetable broth
1. Sauté onions in the oil for 3-4 minutes.
2. Add the garlic for 1 minute.
3. Add the water or broth and the spices.
4. Bring to boil, reduce, summer 10-15 minutes.
5. Remove the bay leaf.
6. Add a pinch of cayenne before serving.
With all the other foods, we did not have it with rice. But the Greek yogurt was good.
