Broccoli is high in vitamins C and K, 2.82 g of protein (in 3.5 oz=1 1/2 cups or 100g), and helps lower cholesterol.  

Broccoli crops were found in northern Mediterranean as early as the 6th century BCE during the Roman Empire. It would not reach northern Europe until the 18th century CE/AD and North American for another 100 years by Italian immigrants. 

Insalata Di Pasta Di Broccoli (Italian)
Serves 4

organic (gluten-free) pasta (cook as directed on package, drain)
4 cups (365 g) organic broccoli florets (green or purple or both)
2 cups (180 g) organic carrots, peeled and shredded
1/2 cup (120 ml) (dairy-free) yogurt
juice of 2 organic lemons (or 4 Tbs./60 ml liquid lemon)
red pepper flakes to taste

uno 1. Cool the pasta.

due 2. Combine the ingredients. 

tre 3. Serve at room temperature or chilled.
