"Oh, it is some basmati rice we bought one day."
Now we have a recipe....Indian-flavor basmati rice with other Indian dishes fills the table with great aroma!
1 cup (240 g) uncooked basmati rice
2 Tbs. (30 ml) olive oil
1-inch (2,55 cm) cinnamon stick, broken in half
1 bay leaf
1/2 tsp. (2,5 ml) cumin seeds
1 whole clove
1/2 tsp. (2,5 ml) whole black peppercorns
1 large chopped thin onion
1 cup (240 ml) basmati rice
2 cups (480 ml) water
1. Soak covered rice in water for 20 minutes.
2. Over medium heat, warm the oil, add cinnamon, bay leaf, cumin seeds, cloves, and peppercorns. Sauté 10-15 minutes.
3. Add chopped onions and heart about 6-8 minutes.
4. Add uncooked rice and toast for 20-30 minutes.
5. Add water and bring to a boil.
6. Reduce heat to simmer, cover, cook 15-20 minutes.
