Turmeric is used in Indian and Caribbean dishes. It contains anti-inflammatory properties. The flavor is intense, so use small amount and increase once you get use to it. 
Here are some ways to enjoy this deep golden color root.

1. Smoothies 1 tsp. (5 ml) for a hit, 2 tsp. (10 ml) more for intense flavor + coconut oil

2. Soups: add 1-2 tsp. (5-10 ml) turmeric

3. Curries: turmeric brings warm flavors to any curry or stew; sauté the vegetables in oil, add 1 tsp. (5 ml) of turmeric

4. Rice dishes: stir in 1/2 tsp. (2,5 ml) of turmeric to the water when cooking the rice

5. Mac and Cheese: stir in 1/2 tsp. (2,5 ml) of turmeric to the cheese sauce

6. Tea: add 1/4 tsp. (1,2 ml.) turmeric to a mug before pouring in the hot water and then the tea

7. Pancakes: add 1/2 tsp. (2,5 ml) of turmeric to dry pancake mix (adds great color!)

8. Hummus: 1/4 tsp. (1,2 ml) turmeric + 1 Tbs. (15 ml) of toasted sesame seeds; sprinkle over the hummus

9. Lentils or Beans: onions, olive oil, 1 tsp. (5 ml) turmeric (serve as is) or combine with cooked lentils with cooked quinoa and make patties out of them

10. Chicken, Fish, or Meat: 1 tsp. (5 ml) turmeric to any marinaded recipe for flavor and color

11. Salad Dressing: stir some into the dressing

12. Pumpkin Pie, Muffins, or a Loaf: stir in 1 tsp. (5 ml) turmeric to the batter and bake as usual

13. Stir-fry: add it while sautéing the vegetables

14. Egg Dishes: sprinkle some into the egg dish

15. Yogurt: top plain organic (Greek) yogurt or almond dairy-free yogurt with a 1 Tbs. (15 ml) turmeric, 1/4 tsp. (1,2 ml) black pepper, and 1 tsp. (5 ml) olive oil
