Cooking with kids is a great learning experience for them as well as for you. This dish is easy for ages 9 or 10.
Cocinar Tostadas de Judías Negras con los niños
Preheat oven 450F (230C)
organic corn tortillas (about 2 per person)
organic olive oil cooking spray
1 Tbs. olive oil
1 (14.5-ounce/400 g) can organic black beans, keep the liquid
(2 cans if making more than 8 tostadas)
1/4 cup (60 ml) salsa of your choice
shredded (dairy-free) cheese
pinch of ground cumin
toppings: organic: diced avocado, sour cream or plain yogurt (dairy-free almond yogurt), shredded mixed lettuce, salsa, diced black olives, sliced cactus, etc.
Let them do as much and safe as possible.
1. Spray each tortilla with cooking spray on both sides.
2. Place on a baking sheet in a single layer.
3. Bake for about 10 minutes., until golden and crispy.
4. Place toppings in individual bowls for serving.
5. Add olive oil to a skillet over medium heat.
6. Add black beans in their cooking liquid, mix in salsa and cumin.
7. Mash the mixture with potato masher, but leave some lumps.
8. Spread beans evenly over each tortilla.
9. Have everyone add toppings of their choice.
