Aufschnittplatte (German)
Set out a big plate of: Camembert cheese and assorted cheeses, can of sardines, cold potato salad, tomato wedges and chopped chives for decoration. Add dark bread and butter.
True, Germans will have assorted cold cuts, but replace them for smoked tofu or other marinated tofu found in many supermarkets today and add different bite size vegetables, example: cucumbers, carrots, cauliflower, broccoli, celery, artichoke hearts, beets, onions, garlic, radishes... with a German creamy dill dipping sauce*
Serve with Mineralwasser (mineral water), beside a refreshing drink, it aids in digestion. Add a lemon wedge if you like.
*sahniges Dillsoße
Refrigerate 1-2 hours before serving
1/2 cup (120 ml) sour cream
1/4 cup (60 ml) organic yogurt
2 Tbs. (30 ml) chopped fresh dill or 2 tsp. (10 ml) dried dill
1 tsp. (5 ml) organic lemon juice
salt and pepper (optional)
Mix the ingredients in a small bowl, cover, and refrigerate 1-2 hours.
