1. Put potatoes in a large saucepan, over with cold water by 1 inch (2,55 cm) with sea salt.
2. Bring to boil, then reduce to medium and simmer until tender, about 15 minutes.
3. Drain and return to the saucepan over low heat.
4. Cook until any remaining water evaporates, 2 minutes.
5. Add the butter and mash with a potato masher until smooth.
6. Add any optionals ingredients.
7. Gradually mash in the milk until creamy.
8. Top with more butter and/or options before serving.
